Support for children and young people with SEN and disabilities

Stalbridge Pre-School runs in a purpose built premises which has disability access and offers an inclusive provision. Our qualified SENCO oversees SEND provision and ensures all staff are able to support our SEN children appropriately. The SENCO and manager are pro-active in supporting families with known SEND and to recognise when children may benefit from additional help, we complete 2yr checks and use an online learning journal to track children’s progress, we will discuss any concerns with parents and seek their agreement in asking for professional support, we will suggest how we could support their child and who could be contacted for further support, we have experience in making referrals and working closely with other professions such as SALT, Portage, Health Visitors, Occupational Therapists and Educational Psychologists. We are able to prepare and manage educational plans that will promote development by working in partnership with home and other professionals involved, we also have experience of seeking inclusion funding and preparing successful Educational Health Care Plans. We have strong links with schools, organising team meetings to ensure smooth transitions. We support learning and development by adapting our premises and resources where appropriate, preparing Individual Educational Plans and by differentiating activities, we promote learning in small groups and through individual support. Stalbridge Pre-School has welcomed and support children with Downs Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Osteogenesis Imperfecta (Brittle Bones), Juvenile Arthritis and hearing difficulties.
