The Grove Pre-School Playgroup
We aim to provide a safe, stimulating and caring environment where pre-school children can learn at their own individual rate. We offer free flow outdoor play throughout the sessions, in all weather. For three terms before going to school, the children are offered a full day on a Friday where we take part in outdoor learning sessions.

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Local Offer
- Support for children and young people with SEN and disabilities
- The Grove Pre-School Playgroup aims to be inclusive of all children and enable them to access activities and opportunities at their level of ability and involvement. Our priority is to tune into and listen to the child to understand them; we believe that emotional wellbeing and positive attachments are important for all our children. We offer a new starter morning to meet and discuss any needs or adaptations. We have experience in completing EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) and liaise with other Professionals: Health visitors, Portage, Educational Psychologist, Speech and language Therapists, Consultant Paediatricians and Social Workers. Playgroup will attend meetings if requested to act as advocate for the child. We provide a high ratio of adults, with 1:1 support if necessary and have supported children with a wide range of abilities and needs. All children are respected for their individual strengths and ability and we have different resources and adaptable furniture for children to access activities. Children have a key person who works with the setting''s Senco and Individual Plans are put in place to support progress and monitor development. Picture symbols and sign-a-long are used, and if a child needs specialised additional support, we will apply for additional funding from Dorset council to access resources, additional staff time or training. Staff continue to update their knowledge with appropriate SEND training and specialised training for individual diagnosis. As well as offering support, we also recognise the value of letting the child be themselves by ''standing back'' to allow the development of self-esteem, independence and achievement gained by following their own agenda.
