Additional Information

Our aim is to provide a happy and secure environment for each child to develop at a pace to suit their individual needs and ability and above all to enjoy their time with us. Also to ensure Parent/Carers feel welcome and involved at all times. Parents can use their Early Education entitlement at any time during opening hours. Provision has an inclusion / equal opportunities policy.

Support for children and young people with SEN and disabilities

Bovington Nursery is a well-established setting which has lots of experience of children who have additional needs. We aim to offer all children a space no matter what their needs or background and that we can help them reach their full potential in all areas of learning and development. We offer an open door policy where you can call in at the nursery anytime to speak to the manager or Special Educational Need Co-ordinator. (SENCO) We can go through our policies and how we can help and what we can offer you and your child. Every Group Leader has a SEN qualification and is lead SENCO for the room. Other staff have had additional training and experience. We have previously had children at the setting with Autism, Downs Syndrome and Cerebral Palsy as well as children with other additional needs. Most years we have successfully applied for additional funding for children as well as Education Health and Care plan (EHCP) requests. We work closely with other professionals including Portage, health visitors and speech and language therapists in order to support the children at the setting. We also work closely with local Primary schools in order to ease transition to ‘big’ school. We have four rooms where children are grouped according to their date of birth although this is not set in stone and can be adjusted according to a child’s needs. The nursery has a sensory room which all children can use, but is particularly useful for children who need a quiet sensory place to go. We also have a large indoor play room that can be used for a wide range of activities especially on very bad weather days. All rooms have outside play spaces which include physical activity areas for the children. We can offer additional support whether this be resources or extra staffing in order to help your child reach their full potential.
