The Children's House Montessori Nursery

A warm and friendly environment with an extensive range of resources to inspire young imaginations and develop a love of learning. We are in a lovely wooded setting within the grounds of Rushcombe First School where many of our children go on to attend. We also have great relationships with the other local primary schools our families choose for their children. We offer the option to attend during term times only or on a full time year round basis. The nursery closes for 2 weeks at Christmas and 2 weeks at the end of August plus all of the bank holidays. Our main priority is your child's fun and happiness, plus setting him/her up with the skills that they will need for a smooth transition to school.

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Local Offer

Support for children and young people with SEN and disabilities
Staff at The Childrens House Nursery work hard to ensure all children in our care are happy and feel safe and secure, as well as supporting each child towards fulfilling their full potential. Keywork teachers use daily observations, individual planning and close monitoring of children’s progress. From this we can observe if a child requires extra support in any particular area. We have teachers with specialist training who can work closely with parents and outside professionals such as speech therapists, occupational therapists and portage workers. This combination of support leads to targeted activities and individual progress plans where needed. Termly meetings are arranged to review progress and fine-tune progress plans. We are able to access funding for support workers and resources (i.e. tailored equipment) and we adapt our nursery activities to suit individual needs. We have experience of supporting children with a wide range of needs including global developmental delay, autism, hearing impairment, cerebral palsy and epilepsy. For those children going on to school, we prepare them for their “next steps” through role-play, classroom photo timetables, visits from teachers and keyworker visits to their chosen school. This includes preparing targeted educational health care plans to take with them to maintain consistency in their support. Please contact either our Acting Manager Christina Saunders, or our special needs co-ordinator, Kirsty Kearley on 01202 690 800 or email christina@montessorinurseries.co.uk We are open 48 weeks per year (Termly or Full-Time attendance), 8.30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. Please see our website for further information at www.montessorinurseries.com
