Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Local Offer
- Support for children and young people with SEN and disabilities
At The Mulberry Bush all children, including those with SEND are made to feel welcome and safe, and are supported to reach their full potential. Our staff get to know each child and understand their needs and interests. Activities are planned around the needs of individual children (under the guidance of EYFS) to help them to meet their next steps. Any concerns can be raised informally – Pre-school staff are always available to talk about your child – or a formal meeting can be arranged. Confidentiality is maintained at all times. If it is felt that your child would benefit from additional support to aid their development, we would discuss this with parents and together we can create a plan to address this need. Where a child is not making the progress we might expect, we can, after consultation with parents, seek additional help and expertise. Dorset Early Years Childcare team are always available to advise us on inclusion, and specialist support and training. The local health visitor makes visits to our Pre-school. All staff at The Mulberry Bush have attended the Inclusion training. Members of staff have also attended the SENCO training and all staff are familiar with the SEND code of practice. We have good links with the local schools and work hard to support and prepare our children for a smooth transition to Primary School. Being on a school site we are able to plan regular activities with the reception classes and begin building relationships with the teachers.
