Dorset Special Educational Needs, Information, Advice And Support Service (SENDIASS)

The Dorset SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability) Information, Advice and Support Service offers free impartial, confidential, information, advice and support to children and young people aged from 0 to 25 with special educational needs and/or disability and their parents/carers. The service can help by offering advice, information and support on how to express your views for assessments or meetings, find other support, help with disagreements and listening to concerns and talking to you about your choices and options. Our service provides a telephone helpline, email advice line, face-to-face support, support through the education, health and care (EHC) plan process and much more.

Sendiass Officers work closely with the local council, education and training providers, the voluntary sector and other agencies. We have drop-in sessions at Verwood Youth Club every Friday (term time) 10am to midday and at Dorchester Youth & Community Centre every Thursday (term time), 10am to midday. No need to book, just pop in. Self Referral. Children and young people with Special Educational Needs and/or a disability that are in education or training, and/or their parents or carers, can contact the service.

Other Facilities
As all our Officers work from home, the majority of their support is via telephone and email. Regular drop-in sessions are held at different venues across the county. Individual face to face meetings can be arranged if necessary.
