Holwell Nursery School

Holwell Nursery School is a charity nursery that is run by committee and was registered in 1993. The nursery operates from the old village school building situated in the village of Holwell, near Sherborne Dorset. We have three separate rooms to cater for each age group, Caterpillar room 3 months to 2 years, Butterfly room 2 years to 3 years and Humphrey's Pre-school 3 years to 4 years. We offer forest school sessions for all age groups. these sessions are planned to meet all areas of the early years foundation stage (EYFS) and prove how nurturing nature can be for young developing adventurers. We offer a warm welcoming and caring nursery that provides a safe and stimulating environment for children to learn in.

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Local Offer

Support for children and young people with SEN and disabilities

We believe that all children are entitled to opportunities that enable them to achieve their full potential. Therefore we are committed to the inclusion and integration of all children. Our Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo) oversees the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision and ensures all staff are able to support our SEN children appropriately. Both the SENCo and manager are pro-active in supporting families with known SEND and to recognize when children may benefit from additional support. We complete 2 year checks and use an online leaning journal to track children's progress. We will discuss any concerns with parents/carers and seek their permission in asking for professional support. Our SENCo has experienced in making referrals and works closely with other professionals such as Speech and Language Therapists, Portage, Health Visitors and Social Workers. We will prepare and manage educational plans that will promote development by working in partnership with parents and other professionals involved. The SENCo has experience in seeking additional funding and will prepare Educational Health Care Plans. We support learning and development by adapting our premises and resources where needed and offer differentiating activities. We promote learning in small groups and through individual support.
