Little Gems is open all year around, with the exception of a week over the Christmas period and one day in August. Parents are able to use Early Education entitlement between 8am and 4pm Monday to Friday. There are a variety of sessions throughout the day.

Accessibility

Wheelchair accessible

Little Gems has Wheelchair and Buggy access for most doors. It also has a ramp to our outside fire escape route. Baby unit has a ramp up to the door. All doors are wide enough for wheelchairs and buggies to fit through. The rooms are spacious enough for wheel chair access along with most areas of the garden. Should the need arise a movable ramp would made available.

Parking availability information

We have a large area for parking, which is mainly gravely. However there is a large concreted area closest to the nursery allowing a smoother transition from car to nursery, this would be made a disabled bay if needed.

Toilet facility information

Little Gems has a disabled toilet, which is spacious. Access can be easily gained to this facility. We do not have a hoist.

Support for children and young people with SEN and disabilities

The co-ordination of provisions is effective and efficient. Referrals are made, in agreement with parents/carers, to appropriate professionals, including Speech and Language and Portage. We use several interventions, based on evidence obtained within nursery and from parent/carers, these are implemented using resources adapted and best suited for each individual child’s needs. Using the Early Years Foundation Stage, tracker we are better able to assess where a child may need extra support, before providing an intervention this, an Individual Education Plan is put in place, with parents involvement, which is then accessed on a regular basis. If needed Support plans are put in place, which collates all professionals involved and parents’ wishes, into one document, this document is invaluable for supporting children with many needs and regular meetings are arranged to keep this up to date and relevant. Should an Education, Health and Care plan be needed, you will be given support throughout this process.
