Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Local Offer
- Support for children and young people with SEN and disabilities
We ensure our provision is inclusive to all children with SEN and work closely with parents and other agencies to ensure their individual needs are met. Upon starting at pre-school, the key person will take a lead role in getting to know the child and their family. Using observations of children’s activities, the key person will at regular intervals assess children’s levels of development across all areas of learning as defined in the Statutory Framework for Early Years. This way we are able to see children’s achievements and identify any areas which a child may need additional support to make good progress. Children already identified as having additional needs are monitored by Our SENCO to ensure our care matches the needs of the child as they change and grow. Individual learning plans and next steps which are developed with parents and outside agencies such as health visitors, speech and language therapists and portage help us to achieve the best outcomes for children. We are committed to working in close partnership with our local schools. Throughout the year we plan joint activities with the reception class of our closest first school. This allows children to visit school and become familiar with 'big school'. Working with teachers we are able to share information (with parental permission) that will fully support children as they prepare and move on to first school. Our links to school means we have meaningful contact with children after they leave our care during their first year at school.
