Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Local Offer
- Support for children and young people with SEN and disabilities
I have been a registered childminder for many years, this includes observing all children in my care to be able to support their development. I talk to each child’s parents on a regular basis about their child’s development and if I or, the parents felt their child needed additional support I would talk with them to identify what the specific needs are and how best to work together to support their child. It may be necessary to seek information and support from other professionals such as a health visitor or a speech and language therapist. I attend SENCo training to support me with this aspect of my role. Sometimes children require additional support for a short time to enable them to progress in an area of development or learning, sometimes additional support will be required on a long term or permanent basis. All children are individuals and will progress at their own rate however both home and childcare setting can work together to help each child achieve to the best of their own ability.
