Community Rehabilitation Services

The Community Rehabilitation Service provides rehabilitation support at home and in hospital to help people recover from injury or illness, and to live as independently as possible. Our physiotherapists, occupational therapists and rehab nurses offer assessment, care and therapy for patients across Dorset. This support means that some people can avoid a stay in hospital, while others can be safely discharged from hospital as soon as possible. We can also bring in other specialists, such as speech and language therapists or social care workers, if necessary. The support available ranges from short-term, intensive help for up to six weeks, to longer term therapy for people with conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis or strokes, which require more sustained help. For people living in Bournemouth & Poole, short-term rehabilitation support is provided by our intermediate care service, with longer term assistance available from our long term conditions therapy team.
