Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Local Offer
- Support for children and young people with SEN and disabilities
All children are individuals and will develop at different rates. Each child is allocated a Key Person who is responsible for their learning and development. The Key Person will work closely with the child and family to ensure their needs are met and to build a good relationship. They will collate a learning journal on line that has written observations and photographs of the child’s achievements. Parents have access to this and we encourage them to be involved with their child’s learning journal. If a child needs support with their learning and strategies we have tried have not worked we may seek advice from outside agencies, such as portage and SALT and other relevant health professionals This would only be done with parental consent. SEND Provision - We have an accessible building via a ramp and the room can be adapted to allow for each individual’s needs. We fully support children with EHC plans and we can provide 1:1 support within the nursery if necessary. We have a range of aids to help support children with communication difficulties within the setting. We have staff trained in PEIC-D, Signalong, SMART targets, CAF and Supporting Behaviour. A Special Educational Needs and Disability coordinator works within the setting, Debbie Gould. She will work with the child’s Key Person, Parents and Professionals to make sure all the child’s needs are met. She will fill out all relevant paperwork discussing with the parents what the next steps will be and how we will work together to achieve the best possible outcomes for the child and send supporting reports to the relevant professionals. She will also claim any additional funding available to buy resources and additional training for staff.
