Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Local Offer
- Support for children and young people with SEN and disabilities
I aim to offer children the opportunity to learn and develop in a family environment, taking into consideration the age and stage of development of each child, their likes/dislikes/interests - found from talking to the children and their carers, as well as observations I make and any additional support that they may need progress them through the Early Years Foundation Stage. Whilst in my care the children will be encouraged to learn through play using appropriate toys/resources, role play and experiences. We use the local environment as a learning tool, visiting the library, cafe, shops, parks, where the children are encouraged to interact with others, and are able to develop various skills. I have had training in Practical Inclusion and Role of SENCo, and attend regular refresher courses. If I had any concerns that a child may need additional support, I would speak to parents/carers and ask permission to approach appropriate agencies.
