Monkey World Ape Rescue Centre

Monkey World is a 60-acre park which is renowned as an ape rescue and rehabilitation centre and is also a home for a wide variety of primates including chimpanzees, orangutans, gibbons, woolly monkeys, lemurs, macaques and marmosets. We hold events throughout the year and can host children's birthday parties. There are several cafes, picnic areas and play areas including disability swings. Check out the Great Ape Play area with climbing frames, cargo nets, swings & slides, your little monkeys can take inspiration from our primate cousin’s activities, and see if they can balance as well as a chimp, climb as high as an orangutan, and swing like a gibbon!

Additional Information

Monkey World assists governments around the world to stop the smuggling of primates from the wild. At the Centre refugees of this illegal trade as well as those that have suffered abuse or neglect are rehabilitated into natural living groups. For young children, the soft play area is ideally situated within the Treetops café, so parents can relax & recharge with a coffee while the little ones play- watched over by our golden-cheeked gibbons in the play room next door! Monkey World is open every day except Christmas Day, from 10am to 5pm. During July and August, opening times extend from 10am to 6pm.
