Avon Heath Country Park
Avon Heath Country Park is Dorset's largest country park, accessible to families and people with a wide range of abilities and interests. Miles of marked trails provide an opportunity to explore the acres of unspoilt heathland and wooded areas, while experiencing some of the unique and rare wildlife. Explore our sensory trail which provides a wide range of accessible play features for children and families, with the sound of drumming and chimes heard across the green! The play area also features a zip wire, climbing wall, sand pit, tree house, giant insect climbing sculptures, trampoline and much more. Other things you can do are cycling, have a picnic, go orienteering, feed a lizard, hire a BBQ and talk to our Rangers. Come and explore some of Dorset's internationally important heathland and its rare wildlife.

Outdoor activity. Get the most out of your visit by exploring the Heathland Discovery Centre which is open 10am to 4pm everyday (except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day ), park gates open 8am and the exit gate closes at 6.30pm. The park is free, but there is a charge for the car park. This service accepts the Dorset Max Card for families of children and young people who are disabled, young carers, children in care and some care leavers: www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/maxcard. - Gravel and sandy tracks with slight inclines. One gravel track of ¾ mile is designed to be suitable for buggies and wheelchairs (depending on the individual users)
- Parking availability information
- There is a large pay and display car park next to the Discovery Centre, there are also four parking spaces for disabled users. The car park gates open at 8am and close at 6.30pm or dusk, whichever is sooner. Free for 15 minutes, then £1.50 per hour afterwards.
- Toilet facility information
- The toilets are open every day from 8am till 5pm. There is a toilet available for disabled users.
