The Keep Military Museum

We are a family friendly museum and we attract all ages. We aim to educate, inspire and honour the sacrifices made by the members of our Regiments. Our displays cover four floors and take you on a 300 year journey through military history. Our artefacts have amazing stories to tell, some will surprise you! Don’t forget to visit the roof for panoramic views of Dorchester and the Dorset countryside. We have a new photographic picture trail aimed at primary school age children - spot all the images in the photographs as you go round the Museum and win yourself a small prize! Sit at our colouring and brass rubbing tables and make some pictures to take home . Have a go dressing up and 'firing' a rifle - you may be surprised how heavy the uniforms and guns are! We also have toy table and dressing up clothes in the lecture room so that children can play while their parent's watch the introductory video.
