A modular building with bright airy play rooms, child-height toilets and facilities, including up to date safety features. The group have their own enclosed garden and also use the playground and sensory garden for outdoor play and learning. Staff are friendly and approachable and offer high quality care. OFSTED say that "children access a well planned environment that is rich in learning opportunities" The pre-school employs an experienced Early Years Teacher. The manager has a foundation degree in early years.

- Hillside Preschool aim to be as flexible as possible, please ring 01202 820679 or email office@hillsidepreschool.org for further information regarding availability of spaces. We have some vacancies for January 2024. Preschool children may attend Breakfast club and in the year before they go to school can attend After School Club

- Hillside can offer sessional care and all day sessions from 8am/9am until 3pm in the school year before a child starts mainstream school, children can also attend After School Club until 6pm (5pm on Thursday). Once children are government funded, there is the opportunity to stay for lunch (parent to provide lunch) or all day 9am to 3pm depending on availability of spaces. We are able to offer 30 hours funded hours if the parent/child is eligible for this. We offer preschool children the opportunity to attend Breakfast Club from start date and After School Club in the year before they go to school. Government funding can be used for this wraparound care. The cost of both clubs is £5.50 per hour. Our only additional cost is 50p per day for snack.
- Additional Information
- Hillside offer a wide range of activities including 'Dough Disco' and 'Bitesize' to assist fine and gross motor skills. Narrative therapy is used for speech delay and also to help with confidence and sharing. Provision has an inclusion / equal opportunities policy. Parent's can use their Early Education Funding entitlement at any time during opening hours. Please note that a place in preschool does not guarantee admission to the school on site. Parents/carers must apply for a place at the school if you want your child to transfer to the school’s reception class. - Group has wide knowledge of children with additional needs. Staff regularly attend training to keep knowledge updated. Staff trained to administer Epipen injections. All members of staff hold a first aid qualification. 3 staff members trained as special educational needs co-ordinators. One member of staff trained as equalities named co-ordinator.<br/>To help children who have additional needs we use a Total Communication Approach and include Narrative therapy for those who would benefit from it.

- Support for children and young people with SEN and disabilities
- Hillside welcome all children, every child''s individual need will be acknowledged and met. Staff have a wide variety of expertise including working with children with hearing and visual loss. Hillside have written and had accepted Educational Health and Care Plans (EHCP) for children in their setting with Down syndrome, Autism and Global delay. Staff will seek support and guidance for children with additional needs from other professionals including Portage and speech and language therapists. There advice will be sought in order to have specific learning plans for each child. The setting itself is fully wheelchair accessible and has ''finger catchers'' on each door.
