I have Early Years Professional status. I offer a wide and varied curriculum for all ages from 3 months to 8 years in a calm and homely environment. I am an accredited childminder which enables me to draw on the Nursery Education Funding for 2, 3 & 4 year olds and provide a unique opportunity for children to develop and progress through the Foundation Stage Curriculum with ample time for one-to-one attention. My house is light and airy with a dedicated play room which offers a wide range of opportunities to have fun and learn. I ensure that the children are out in the fresh air every day, weather permitting. I spend time with other childminders providing a rounded opportunity for children to experience one on one care and that of small groups. I provide opportunity for the children to visit the local environment such as the RSPB Centre, Radipole Gardens, local Parks, Beaches, Portland Bill, Local Farms, Munchkins Play area in Dorchester, Thorncombe woods to name just a few. All children are assessed when they start at the setting and then observed throughout their time at the setting to ensure progress in their individual development. I encourage settling in visits for all children and their parents and from this foster an open relationship with the parents to ensure the child’s individual needs are being met. I attend training regularly to ensure I can provide a varied curriculum and would seek out other professional if I required more understanding in a particular field. I have recently adopted a more curiosity approach to learning and development which allows all the children to explore and experiment within their own interests and at their own pace. We go out as much as possible and use the environment as a learning tool where the children of all abilities are encouraged to use their imagination and develop their large and fine physical motor skills.
